The Other Society Panel on Digital Ethics
I was hosted for a panel about the ethical implications of recent developments in technology by ITSPmagazine Podcast. Some highlights.
➤ You can find the video recording here
➤ Bonus: We used the Wizard of Oz as an overarching theme for the podcast!
It started as a joke in our prep chat, but then we actually did it. This was one of the most fun things I did on a podcast ever.
➤ The topics we discussed include:
--> What are some of the greatest ethical challenges facing society as a result of technological innovation today?
--> Is it fair to say that the tech raises ethical challenges, or is it the way people use the tech that raises ethical problems?
--> What is the difference between Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)?
--> Does AI pose new ethical problems, or just old problems repackaged? What is the solution to these problems?
--> Are we fated to live in a society governed by either technology or big tech companies?
--> Is it possible to design ethics into technology?
➤ My co-panelists were
--> Kevin Macnish, PhD, CIPP/E, CIPP, EDigital Ethics Consulting Manager at Sopra Steria
--> Adam Henschke, Dr at Universiteit Twente
--> Gemma Galdon Clavell, PhD, Founder and CEO at Eticas
➤ Our hosts were Sean Martin, and Marco Ciappelli
Thank you for inviting me and being such great hosts!
